Its an antibiotic association of a third generation fluoroquinolone, which acts directly on the bacterial nucleus, inhibiting the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, which confers a high bactericidal effect against mycoplasmas, gram positive and gram negative bacteria; with trimethoprim that acts by interfering with the cellular metabolism of folic acid in the bacterial cell and inhibits the synthesis on which the bacteria depend, without affecting the metabolism of the host. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant mucolytic for cleaning the respiratory tract.
